Debate on Bond Commission & PRECIFAC Reports Today

The Parliamentary debate on the reports of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCoI), which probed into the Treasury Bonds scam and the PCoI investigations into Serious Acts of Fraud, Corruption and Abuse of Power, State Resources and Privileges (PRECIFAC) will be held today (6).
Speaker Karu Jayasuriya, on the request of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, has summoned Parliament to meet at 10.30 a.m. to debate the PCoI reports.
Before the start of the debate, Party Leaders will meet at the Parliament Complex, under the patronage of Speaker Jayasuriya to decide on the time allocation for the debate and the time to be allocated for each political party. Earlier, there was a request from the Joint Opposition for more time to be allocated to them, when it comes to the Bonds scam report debate.
The Speaker has indicated that the debate can continue on another day after the Local Government elections, if time does not permit the debate to be concluded today, since the massive reports runs into 1,200 and 1,300 pages respectively.
Prime Minister requested the Speaker to arrange this debate after allegations made by President Maithripala Sirisena that certain VIPs had postponed it to after the elections to cover up their corrupt acts.
