Vass Gunawardena Sentenced to 5 Years Rigorous Imprisonment ….

Former Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG)  Vass Gunawardena was sentenced to five years rigorous imprisonment by Colombo High Court  for threatening life of the then ASP, now Director of  CID Shani Abeysekara.

Colombo High Court Judge Gihan Kulathunga sentenced him to five years  rigorous imprisonment along with   Rs 25000  fine.

 It is relevant  to mention here that Vass Gunawardena was sentenced to death in connection with the murder of Bambalapitiya businessman Mohamed Siyam and in death row in Welikada prison.
