BAR Association to File Writ Petition Against Case Filed by Bribery Commission Against Former Chief Justice.

Bribery Commission has filed a case against the former Chief Justice Mohan Peiris alleging that he committed an offence during his tenure under the bribery act. Further one of the current Supreme Court judges A.M.S.D.Nawaz too was charged in committing the same offence along with him.

When Judges and Lawyers talk about matters regarding cases, they cannot be charged under bribery Act. If it is allowed, it will become a precedent in future. Hence, BAR Association decided to file a petition against in the Supreme Court today.

President of the BAR Association U.R. De Silva  PC will file this petition in the Supreme Court today.
