Production of Hydro Power Generation Reduced Due to Dry Weather

Rainfall in areas where hydro power plants and reservoirs are situated are low, furthermore adding limits will be further enforced due to the necessary provision of essential water requirements from reservoirs, such as for drinking water and agricultural purposes.

Hydro power generation has been affected as a result of the dry weather experienced across the island at present, the Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy said.

Director of the Ministry Sulakshana Jayewardene said the increase in daily demand has challenged the national power grid and  similar situations have been faced in the past particularly over the last two years.
