Air Force Celebrates its 67th Anniversary Today

The Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) is celebrating its 67th Anniversary, the ‘Air Force Day’ today (2). The SLAF was formed on 2 March 1951 as the Royal Ceylon Air Force and when Sri Lanka became a Republic in 1972, the Royal Ceylon Air Force was re-designated as the SLAF.
In a statement on its official website the Air Force noted, this year the event will be celebrated with great pomp and pageantry with a special exposition and Tattoo at SLAF Station Ampara.
Meanwhile the “Guwan Hamuda Papedi Sawariya -2018” will also be conducted for the 19th consecutive year in concurrence with the 67th Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Air Force today.
The race is ranked at National level and conducted under the auspices of the Cycling Federation of Sri Lanka.
