The Parliamentary Debate on Delimitation Committee Report on 22nd
Parliamentary select committee headed by Speaker Karu Jayasuriya has decided to schedule the debate on the delimitation report of the Provincial Councils on March 22nd in the Parliament.
Under the new electoral system, determination of provincial council electoral limits law was passed in the year 2017.
Under this system, 50% of the members will be elected on ward basis and the other 50% will be selected on representation basis.
Accordingly, a five-member committee headed by former Commissioner General of Survey department, Kanakarathinam Thavalingam was appointed to determine the new provincial council electoral limits.
