Increase Traffic Fines to Reduce Fatal Accidents  -Rajitha

Minister of Health Rajitha Senaratne Speaking at an event held in Anuradhapura, Minister Senaratne said the government will introduce new projects in order to curb road accidents. He says traffic fines should be increased if we have to reduce fatal accidents in the country.

Minister Rajitha Senaratne among other things he urged the President to increase traffic fines stating that Sri Lanka requires new regulations to reduce fatal accidents.

He urged the law enforcing officers to strictly implement imposing penalties for illegal crossing done at their will. He said Sri Lanka has 143 blood banks at present adding that road accidents have seen a rapid increase.

The Minister said the government has upgraded emergency services resulting in 118 emergency service units.
