UNP Parliamentary Group Determined to Defeat No Confidence Motion Against Prime Minister
United national Party Parliamentary Group met at the Temple Trees yesterday and unanimously decided to defeat proposed no confidence motion against Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasighe.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasighe in a strategic move reported to have contacted SLFP and other party leaders in this connection. TNA led by Leader of the Opposition R.Sampanthan and the JVP led by Anurakumara Dissanayake have not yet decided either to support or oppose the no confidence motion..
Considering the head count in parliament, it is a Himalayan task for the Joint opposition to gather support from other members of parliament for no confidence motion, political observers say.
