Places of Worship that Were Damaged During the Recent Unrest in Kandy to be Compensated

While speaking a media briefing held in Colombo today, Minister of Education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said places of worship that were damaged during the recent unrest in Kandy will be compensated through the Central Cultural Fund.

He said the government expects to expedite the reconstructions. During the past few days unrests were reported in the Kandy district during which several temples and mosques were damaged.

The government hopes to compensate the places of worship that were damaged during the unrest through the Central Cultural Fund that is under the Ministry of Education, he concluded.
