BIA’s Security Tightened Due To Workers Protest

The airport’s security has been strengthened due to the Katunayake airport workers protests today (02).
Over the past three days Police Riot squads have been deployed in the airport premises and it is reported that the Air Force and the Commando Troops totalling over 1500 have been deployed to ensure the security of the airport.
The strike action is undertaken by the airport administrative employees demanding to increase their remuneration by 10,000 rupees, but Transport and Civil Aviation Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva said to have opposed to this increased remuneration.
