No Confidence Motion Is a Drama Staged – Ceylon Farmers’ Federation

The No-Confidence Motion (NCM) brought against Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe handed by the Joint Opposition, is an attempt by a group of intimate friends to distract the prevailing public frustration against the government, the JVP- affiliated Ceylon Farmers’ Federation alleges.
Speaking, the national organiser of the Ceylon Farmers’ Federation – Namal Karunaratna alleged that in the recent past, Mr Ranil Wickramasinghe came  forward and saved  Mahinda Rajapaksa’s wife and children  when they faced several charges. What happens now is a show of gratitude for instances such as allowing Shiranthi Rajapaksa to make her statements at the Speaker’s residence. It is like killing two birds with one stone.
In the recently concluded local government election, all candidates of the SLPP asked their voters to vote for them to make Mahinda the Prime Minister. After winning the LG polls, Mahinda says he is not concerned about the Prime Minister’s post and Ranil need not resign. Minister Rajitha has said this at a media briefing. Until now, Mahinda has not refuted this. Ranil carries on the administration with the agreement and support of Mahinda faction.
The people are deeply frustrated. Under these circumstances no-confidence motion was brought to distract the people. Now, the people are contemplating on the no-confidence motion. If a new Prime Minister is appointed, it would be an obstacle to Mahinda faction .Further constitutional issues have surfaced.  Therefore, the no-confidence motion would turn into an unsuccessful one. This is what Mahinda and his group wanted, he concluded.
