Newly Appointed 12-Member UNP Political Committee to Meet Today

The newly appointed 12-Member United National Party Political Committee (UNP PC) will meet for the first time today (11) afternoon at the Temple Trees to discuss about the new posts and appointments to be made, Committee Member, Parliamentarian Nalin Bandara  said.

The Committee would discuss the reorganization of the Party and select potential members for the posts within the Party.

The Committee members are: Navin Dissanayake, Harin Fernando, Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, Ranjith Maddduma Bandara, Mangala Samaraweera, Ajith P. Perera, Eran Wickramaratne, J.C. Alawathuwala, Ruwan Wijewardene, Gayantha Karunatilleke, Nalin Bandara and Asoka Priyantha.

The Committee was set up to decide on the new office-bearers including the Party Leader.

Many privileges of the Parliamentary group as well as the Party Leader, regarding the decision-making process, had been granted to the Committee. Members were selected to the Political Committee through the votes of the Working Committee Members and the Parliamentary group, he said.
