Former MP Lakshman Wasantha Perera has been arrested after he surrendered to police over an alleged assault, the Police Spokesman told the media.
According to the police, a group accompanied by Perera had allegedly abducted and assaulted a person on July 26, over an election related incident.
Four other suspects, who were wanted in connection with the incident, had earlier been remanded till August 12.
