May 7th Declared as a Holiday For Public & Private Sector Employees
The government of Srilanka heeding to requests made by Maha Sangha changed May day celebrations from May 1st to 7th of May. There is an ambiguity regarding may day holiday.
The Commissioner General of Labour, A. Wimalaweera says, 7th of May has been declared as a holiday for Government employees as well as for employees of private sector, semi-government institutes and other statutory bodies.
