While speaking to media in Kandy Minister SB Dissanayake said that the members of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, who bear key posts within the party must step down in order to make way for party reforms. He said new appointments must be made.
He noted party reforms will be initiated in two weeks from the 8th of May.
He said therefore members who hold office in the party will vacate posts, new officers will be appointed and we the party will work towards forming an alliance.
He added the President also decided to appoint a reforms committee noting therefore because of the change that will happen in two weeks from the 8th of May, the SLFP were able to bring those who said that they cannot work with certain secretaries to an agreement in order to work towards making the Batticaloa May Day celebrations a success.
A group of United National Party Parliamentarians are willing to support any attempt to toppling the present government if need be, he concluded.
