Meteorology Department Issues Heat Warning

The Department of Meteorology has issued a heat warning for today in several provinces across the island.

Accordingly the Met Department warned high temperatures will be experienced in the Northern, North Central, Eastern, Uva and North Western provinces and the Matale, Hambantota and Polonnaruwa districts today. Issuing an advisory, the Met Department noted temperatures may rise to extreme cautionary levels in isolated areas within the Polonnaruwa district.

The public is also advised to consume an ample amount of water, preferably remain in shady areas and to take sufficient rest during the day, whilst avoiding strenuous work outside.
