Discussion on Appointing a Deputy Speaker…

Deputy speaker’s post fell vacant following the resignation of Thilanga Sumathipala, who voted in favour of the No confidence motion brought against the Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and crossed over to the opposition side.

In response to a question raised by an opposition MP, the Speaker Karu Jeyasuriya said that the matter will be discussed with the prime Minister and the President and thereafter the decision will be informed to Parliament.
