20 Spill Gates of Thabbowa Reservoir Opened – DMC

Due to heavy rainfall, twenty spill gates of the Thabbowa Reservoir in Puttalam have been opened this morning (25), the Disaster Management Center said.

Three spill gates have been opened by 3 feet each, eight spill gates have been opened by one foot while 6 spill gates have been opened by 6 inches each.

Accordingly the sluice gates of the Thabbowa Reservoir are currently releasing 5,750 cubic feet of water per minute to the Mee Oya.

DMC advised those living downstream to be vigilant.
