Influenza Virus to be Controlled Soon

The  Influenza virus which has spread in the Southern Province can be controlled within the next month, Health Officials said.

While speaking during an event, Southern Provincial Heath Services Director G Wijesuriya said that steps have been taken to prevent the further spread of the virus.

He said the disease can be controlled soon.

He said the number of patients being admitted to hospital daily is decreasing adding  the number of child patients remains high but there is a marked decrease in the number of adult patients.

He stated the fever is spreading as a combination of several viruses.

Accordingly he noted authorities have taken all measures to prevent the spread of the disease further adding it is strongly believed within the next month the disease can be brought under control.

13 children under the age of 3 have died so far due to the disease.
