AG’s Department Writes to Singapore Seeking Extradition of Arjuna Mahendran.

The Attorney General Department has lately taken steps to write to the Singapore government seeking extradition of Arjuna Mahendran, former Governor of the Central Bank, a suspect in the bond case. Earlier Singapore police said that Arjuna Mahendran was in Singapore and not fled the country.
The Attorney General’s department has belatedly taken this step based on the   fact that the Srilanka court has issued open arrest warrant for his arrest as he is wanted for investigation by the police.
In order to arrest him and produce before the police investigation team, Interpol red notice too had been issued.
The CID is set to make this move after the former governor of the central bank has been issued an arrest warrant in connection with the central bank bond transaction in 2015.
Depending on response from the Singapore government, a police team is ready to fly to Singapore to take follow up action.
