500 New Buses to SLTB

The government is planning to enhance the bus fleet at Sri Lanka Transport Board by importing 500 new buses. The relevant Cabinet paper was approved day before yesterday (05).

However, as of now  the SLTB has only 6000 buses in running condition and 1560 of this fleet is more than 15 years old.

Accordingly, 400 buses with 50-54 high-back seats for urban service and 100 buses with 32-35 seats for rural service will be purchased.
