CID Informs Fort Magistrate Sujeewa Receives Rs 3 Mn & Arjuna Mahendran Rs3.2 Mn From PTL
When the central bank bond case was taken up before the Fort magistrate Lanka Jeyaratne yesterday, reporting the progress made in investigation the CID informed the court that State Minister for International Trade Sujeewa Senasinghe had received Rs 3 mn from W.M.Mendis company, subsidiary of perpetual Treasuries (PTL) owned by Arjun Aloysius . Rs 3 million had been received through three cheques between Aug 24,2015 and March 32, 2016. Out of which two cheques were encashed by his police body guard and the third by one of his political accomplice.
Senior Additional Solicitor General Yasantha Kodagoda told the court that Senasinghe would be called by the CID to record a statement. Meanwhile UPFA MP Dayasiri Jeyasekera, who received Rs 1 million from Walt Rowe and Associates in July 2015 had yet to report to the CID to make a statement though he had been asked to do
The AG’s Department also told the court that the first accused in this case former Central Bank Governor too had received Rs 3.2 Mn through 3 separate cheques from PTL has been encashed by his peon.
