Proposal to Fix Minimum Age to Sit for Examination in Schools
The National Child Protection Authority Chairman H.M. Abeyratne says, they want to propose a radical change in education by abolishing all school examinations for students below 17 years of age. He says the GCE ordinary level examination could be arranged to be held for over 17 year olds.
Chairman says the existing examinations system is stressful to children and their effects are felt even after they reach adulthood. Hence they are prepared for a dialogue in society on the matter.
