“Tonya” helmer to direct “Thelma” remake

(FASTNEWS|COLOMBO) – FilmNation Entertainment has successfully acquired the rights to develop an English language remake of Joachim Trier’s 2017 Norwegian supernatural thriller “Thelma” and have set Craig Gillespie (“I, Tonya”) to helm.

The original follows a shy female student at a university in Oslo who suddenly discovers she has terrifying powers after she falls in love with Anja, a beautiful student who reciprocates her powerful attraction. Christy Hall will pen the script for the remake.

The film premiered at the Toronto Film Festival last year and ended up being one of last year’s most acclaimed films with a 92% and 7.3/10 score on Rotten Tomatoes.
