(FASTNEWS|COLOMBO) – President Maithripala Sirisena on Monday (05) revealed that he had offered the post of Prime Minister to Speaker Karu Jayasuriya and then to United National Party (UNP) Deputy Leader Sajith Premadasa before the post was offered to former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
President Sirisena made this revelation addressing the ‘Rata Rakina Jana Mahimaya’ Rally at the Parliament Junction last evening.
He said both, Jayasuriya and Premadasa refused to go against Ranil Wickremesinghe and then he decided to appoint Mahinda Rajapaksa to the post.
