A Young LeBron James Movie Planned

Chris Robinson (FOX’s “Star”) has been set to direct a film based on the formative early years of Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James which has been set up at Universal Pictures, SpringHill Entertainment, Tangerine Pictures and Cold Front Productions.

The film will deal with a youth basketball team from Ohio who, united by their love of the game and their yearning for companionship, quickly forged a bond that would carry them through thick and thin to the brink of a national championship – only to lose it. Over the years that followed they dealt with jealousy, hostility, exploitation and the fallout of their earlier hubris.

Juel Taylor and Tony Rettenmaier penned the script based on “Shooting Stars,” the book that James and “Friday Night Lights” author Buzz Bissinger co-wrote. Frank E. Flowers penned an earlier draft. James and Maverick Carter along with Terence and Rachel Winter will produce.
