Report called to combat terrorism from ex-Military officers

(FASTNEWS|COLOMBO) – Leader of the Opposition Mahinda Rajapaksa has requested a group of former Commanders, senior military and Police officers to formulate a report containing recommendations to combat the existing situation in Sri Lanka.

The Opposition Leader has called for short term and long term proposals to be included in the report. MP Rajapaksa had met with several former Defence chiefs yesterday.

The office of the Leader of the Opposition said former Secretary of Defence Gotabaya Rajapaksa, former Military Commanders Jagath Jayasuriya, Daya Ratnayake, Roshan Goonetileke, Wasantha Karannagoda and former Inspector General of Police Mahinda Balasuriya were all present at the meeting.

Parliamentarians Vasudeva Nanayakkara, Dullas Alahapperuma, Bandula Gunawardena and Udaya Gammanpila and Chairman of the SLPP Professor GL Pieris and National Coordinator Basil Rajapaksa also attended the meeting.
