Sri Lanka still the most suitable to visit in 2019

(FASTNEWS|COLOMBO) – International travel magazine Lonely Planet has once again recognised Sri Lanka as the most suitable country to visit in the year 2019, despite the Easter Sunday attacks which rocked the country in April.

The Sri Lankan tourism sector suffered a huge blow during the aftermath of the Easter Sunday attacks.

The Lonely Planet magazine said reservations at hotels and other accommodation facilities fell by 186% during the aftermath of the Easter attacks.

However the magazine said majority of the countries including the United Kingdom have relaxed travel advisories issued on Sri Lanka.

The magazine in its article claimed the unique items of food, train journeys, scenic views in the hill country and the coastal areas cannot be compared to any other country.
