Maximum security for Kandy Esala Perahara

(FASTNEWS|COLOMBO) – Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake says the Army is prepared to provide maximum security for the Kandy Esala Perahara.

Speaking to media in Kandy the Army Commander said the Army has a key role to play, during the state of emergency, adding that a special program will be carried out in alliance with the Police, Navy, Air Force and the Perahara organizing teams.

He added that an increased number of Forces personnel will also be stationed to ensure safety, with the goal of maintaining peace and security during the Esala Perahara.

The Army Commander stressed the Police and Tri-forces, led by the Army, are strong and prepared to ensure security.

Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake noted as of now, the situation in the country has stabilized, adding that national security is re-established.
