“Gotabaya has legally renounced US citizenship” -SB Dissanayake

(FASTNEWS|COLOMBO) -United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) Parliamentarian (MP) SB Dissanayake says the Presidential candidate of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, former Secretary of Defence Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s faction has documents to prove that he has legally renounced his US citizenship.

MP Dissanayake said no issue will arise pertaining to Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s citizenship when nominations are called for the Presidential Election.

He noted discussions have been held with the Chairman of the Elections Commission Mahinda Deshapriya in this regard.

MP SB Dissanayake said Gotabaya Rajapaksa has a letter which states that his request to revoke US citizenship has been accepted.
