Pujith Jayasundara released on bail

(FASTNEWS | COLOMBO) – Inspector General of Police (IGP), Pujith Jayasundara who was arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for allegedly threatening a lift operator in 2017, has been released on bail.

He was granted bail under the bail condition of a surety bail of Rs. 200,000 by the Fort Magistrate’s Court in Colombo today (01).

Fort Magistrate’s Court previously instructed the CID to conduct an investigation against Jayasundara for verbally abusing a lift operator in an elevator at the Police Headquarters.

The CID informed the Court that Jayasundara could be charged under the Penal Code for harassing and threatening a Police Official.
