Top Presidential hopefuls to share platform today

(FASTNEWS | COLOMBO) – A special forum at which all front running Presidential candidates will be granted the opportunity to clarify their policy statements on the same public platform will be held today.

The ‘Presidential Election 2019 — The Public Platform’ forum which is jointly organised by several civil societies including the March 12th movement will commence at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium in Colombo at 3 this afternoon.

Several top Presidential hopefuls including Sajith Premadasa, Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Mahesh Senanayake are expected to attend.

Meanwhile 3000 citizen observers who have been trained for the Presidential election will be introduced during this event.

Speaking to a prominent online news portal in the island, member of the March 12th Movement and Convenor of the Centre for Monitoring Election Violence Manjula Gajanayake highlighted this is the first time multiple Presidential candidates will share and speak on the same platform in the country’s political history.
