New laws to end ‘horse trading’ culture – Anura Kumara

(FASTNEWS | COLOMBO) – The Presidential Candidate of the National People’s Power (NPP), Parliamentarian Anura Kumara Dissanayake says new laws will be enacted to end the ‘horse trading culture’ in Parliament.

Speaking during a public gathering in Elpitiya, MP Dissanayake said the country’s political culture will be changed following his victory at the forthcoming election.

He charged some represent one party during the day and another in the evening, adding last year, President Maithripala Sirisena said the 2018 Coup was unsuccessful because the rates offered to MPs rose rapidly.

He pointed out that vast sums were quoted for MPs to crossover, charging that this is black money playing a part.

However he assured although 225 were appointed to Parliament, only JVP members remained firm and rejected proposals to crossover.

Therefore stressed the country needs to enact laws to end crossovers and put an end to a toxic political culture.
