Sajith can take country towards bright future

(FASTNEWS | COLOMBO) – The grassroots of the United National Party (UNP) are happy that the party leadership has made a correct decision to field the best candidate for the presidency, said Parliamentarian Lakshman Senewiratne yesterday.

He was speaking at a meeting at the Mahiyanganaya UNP office.

“A party needs full co-operation of the grassroots and we have them now thanks to the appointment of Minister Sajith Premadasa as the party candidate for the upcoming presidential election,” Seneviratne said.

“I thank the party for giving due consideration for people’s warning,” he said.

He said the opposition is attacking the government for not doing enough, and not giving priority to the development. He added that the government has done its part.

“The government had to focus on democracy, reconciliation and repaying foreign debts taken by the previous government. Now it focuses on development and other important aspects,” Seneviratne said. “Once we have our own president on November 16, we can reach development targets better than earlier we did. ‘You all have to work hard to get the voters of the country rallied behind the winning of presidential candidate, Sajith Premadasa,” he said.

He added that election of an able leader as president of the country is the only way to have a high living standards for citizens. Sajith Premadasa is an able, experienced politician who can take the country towards a bright future, he said.

Uva Provincial Councillor Upali Senaratna, Mahiyanganaya Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Y. M. Karu Weeraratna and many others were present.
