“Several sectors lack female representation” – Anura Kumara

(FASTNEWS | COLOMBO) – Presidential candidate of the National Movement for People’s Power (NPP) Parliamentarian Anura Kumara Dissanayaka says two major concerns have led to issues women are faced with.

Speaking at an event yesterday the Parliamentarian noted one reason is the various crises in the country, adding that the other reason is the unique concerns women alone face.

He said therefore women are facing issues pertaining to their rights. MP Dissanayaka said the party’s ordinance and politics are based on these factors.

While stating that a majority of political stages consist of males, he noted by being the only male amidst women at the event, he experienced the burden experienced by women during such instances.

The Parliamentarian further noted female representation is severely limited in several sectors in the country.

Commenting on the lack of female representation in the state decision making process, MP Dissanayaka said women have not been included in the decision making process, despite over 51% of the country being female.

He stated everyone must be included in the decision making process in order for society to progress.
