“Soldiers will not face injustice under my watch”- FM Fonseka

(FASTNEWS | COLOMBO) – United National Party Parliamentarian Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka says he will never allow war veterans to face any injustice.

Speaking at the Viru Pavura, retired war veterans’ gathering last evening Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka said the country failed to achieve the desired results after the war victory.

The Former Commander said the war victory was sold in many different ways by politicians and he was disheartened by the actions of the previous government.

Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka said, “soldiers after the war were still in ditches and in shrubbery areas without sanitary facilities. I asked for four months to do something about this. But they were afraid. If we were conspiring, we would’ve done that at the Army Headquarters. If I wanted to all that could’ve ended in five minutes.”

The Former Commander said after realizing the emergence of a dictatorial rule by a family, he decided to accept an invitation to enter politics.

He said after his decision to enter politics he was targeted by the former regime and also claimed that vengeance was sought against many soldiers including Generals.
