National Carrom squad nominated for ICF Cup

(FASTNEWS | COLOMBO) – National Carrom squad consist of with 10 players have been nominated for the 8th ICF Cup Championships 2019 which will be held in Pune, Mumbai, India from December 2 to 6. Top ranked four National players from both Men and Women categories have been selected for this tournament and those selections were done by the National Carrom Selection Committee.

International Carrom Federation (ICF) and All India Carrom Federation (AICF) jointly organize

this event and more than 16 countries including Sri Lanka, India, Maldives, France, Germany,

Italy, USA, UK supposed to participate.

Lankan men’s team is captained by former World Champion Nishantha Fernando while the women’s team is captained by Joseph Roshita.

Sri Lanka the defending world champions, included two senior men and 03 senior women players who represented Sri Lanka several times at international level along with upcoming players.

The Selection committee comprised Dudly Gunawardhane- chairman, Sunanda Kodagoda and Ranjith Perera who have been appointed by the Sports Minister.

The teams nominated and subject to approval of the Ministry of Sports are as follows

Men’s team

1. Shaheed Hilmy (Royal Collage), 2. Nishantha Fernando (SL Navy), 3. Anas Ahamed (SL Army), 4. Dineth Dulakshana (SL Air Force), 5. M. Sheriffdeen (SL Army) – Reserve player

Women’s team

1. Chalani Lakmali (SL Air Force), 2. Joseph Roshita (SL Navy), 3. Maduka Dilshani (SL Army), 4. M. Chitradevi (SL Army), 5. Rebecca Dalrine (SL Army)- Reserve player
