TELO defectors form Tamil National Party

(FASTNEWS | COLOMBO) –  The faction that broke away from the Tamil Eelam Liberation Organization has formed a new political party, the Tamil National Party.

The former General Secretary of TELO S Sri Kantha has been named the leader of the new party.

Former Provincial Councillor MK Shivajilingam has been named the party General Secretary.

Sivajilingam lost the Chairmanship of the Tamil Eelam Liberation Organization as he contested the 2019 Presidential Election without the consent of the party.

Sri Kantha and two others backed Shivajilingam thereby leading to disciplinary action against them as well.

The Tamil National Party was formed on the basis that they do not agree to the one sided decisions of TELO.

The TNP leader said they will contest the upcoming General Election under the new party.
