Three dead after falling into abandoned mine

(FASTNEWS | COLOMBO) – Three persons have died after falling into an abandoned mine at Seethawaka in Avissawella.

Police said that the three individuals had attempted to rescue two chickens that had fallen into the abandoned mine and that youths were later found unconscious and in critical condition after falling into the mine.

All three of them had passed away after being rushed to the Avissawella Hospital.

The deceased are youths aged 17, 27 and 25 from Avissawella.

The bodies have been placed at the Avissawella Hospital for the postmortem examination.

Avissawella Hospital is conducting further investigations.
