Govt. urges public to celebrate New Year indoors
(FASTNEWS | COLOMBO) – President Gotabaya Rajapaksa today (09) urged the public to observe Sinhala and Tamil New Year rituals at home in a subdued manner given the prevailing situation in the country.
With few more days to go for Sinhala & Tamil New Year, it is important to ensure you remain home and celebrate with your family. Though this new year will be a difficult time, we must have hope and remain positive #StayHome #ගෙදරඉන්න

Furthermore, issuing a communiqué on the Sinhala and Tamil New Year auspicious times, the Ministry of Buddhasasana, Cultural, and Religious Affairs also requested the people not to leave their houses or organise celebrations, but to observe the rituals with family members and engage in religious activities at home in a simple manner.
