COVID-19 recoveries increases to 801

(FASTNEWS | COLOMBO) – The Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health said the number of persons who recovered after contracting COVID-19 has increased to 801.

10 COVID-19 patients were discharged from the National Institute of Infectious Diseases yesterday, while five were discharged from the Colombo East Base Hospital, four from the Homagama Base Hospital and one individual from the Navy Hospital.

The number of coronavirus cases presently stands at 1,620.

The Government Information Department said of the 62 coronavirus cases identified yesterday 25 persons were identified as Navy personnel.

26 returnees from Qatar also tested positive for the coronavirus yesterday while eight returnees from Kuwait and three returnees from the Maldives were also confirmed to have contracted the virus.

Among the confirmed cases are 794 Navy personnel and individuals who associated them and 512 Lankan returnees from overseas.

Accordingly, 809 COVID-19 patients are currently receiving medical treatment at nine hospitals across the country.

The Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health said 74 suspected COVID-19 cases are also under medical observation at present.

10 deaths in the country have also been linked to COVID-19.
