COVID-19 recoveries increase to 836

(FASTNEWS | COLOMBO) – Another 13 persons who contracted the novel coronavirus have recovered and have been discharged from hospitals.

The Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health said the number of persons who recovered after testing positive for COVID-19 has increased to 836.

Seven COVID-19 patients were discharged from the National Institute of Infectious Diseases while five others were discharged from the Minuwangoda Base Hospital and one individual from the Colombo East Base Hospital.

Meanwhile the number of coronavirus cases in the country rose to 1,683 after 40 new cases were recorded yesterday.

808 Navy personnel and 476 overseas returnees are among the confirmed coronavirus cases.

836 COVID-19 patients are presently being treated in hospitals while 66 individuals suspected to have contracted the virus are under observation.

11 deaths in the country have also been linked to COVID-19.
