Coronavirus infections increase to 1,858

(FASTNEWS | COLOMBO) – An individual has tested positive for the coronavirus, increasing the number of infections to 1,858.

Recoveries in Sri Lanka exceeded 1,000 today, after 67 persons who contracted the coronavirus were discharged after making complete recoveries.

35 persons were discharged from the Navy General Hospital, 12 from the Homagama Base Hospital, six each from the Welikanda Base Hospital and the Colombo East Base Hospital, five from the Iranawila Hospital and three individuals from the National Institute of Infectious Diseases.

The Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health accordingly recorded 1,057 recoveries.

The Epidemiology Unit said 790 COVID-19 patients are currently receiving medical treatment at 11 hospitals across the country.

74 persons who are suspected to have contracted the virus are also under observation.
