Sri Lanka to welcome tourists from August
(FASTNEWS | COLOMBO) – Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation Prasanna Ranatunga has reiterated that Sri Lanka will welcome tourists from the 1st of August under strict regulations.
Minister Ranatunga said the movement of inbound travellers will be monitored with the support of Public Health Inspectors.
The Minister said Sri Lankans who are stranded in various parts of the world will be brought back to the country before the 1st of August and will be directed to quarantine.
He said several measures have been taken to safety repatriate Lankans who are willing to return to the country.
The Minister of Tourism added that following the repatriation process, tourists will be allowed into the country. He said inbound travellers must have a negative COVID-19 test.
He noted that upon their arrival another PCR test will be conducted and they will be held in a hotel named by the government with the expenses borne by the inbound traveller.
Minister Ranatunga noted that if the PCR tests return negative results then those persons will be allowed to tour the country. He cautioned that PHIs will continue to monitor the movement of tourists.
