Suspect under police custody shot dead

(FASTNEWS | COLOMBO) – A suspect who was under the police custody over stabbing of an informant was shot dead this morning in Veyangoda, police said.

Police sources said that the suspect was taken for an operation by Peliyagoda western province north crime division this morning in Veyangoda area and he attempted to escape.

Suspect was shot dead while he attempted to escape and a police officer also injured in the incident.

He was in custody over stabbing and attempting to kill an informant who provides information to police on drug trafficking.
