Body of a woman in fertilizer bag found

The lower torso of a woman was found inside a fertilizer sack. It is said that the bag with her body had washed up to the shores of Erabaduwa Island in Kalpitiya last Wednesday evening.
Kalpitiya Police were led to the sack following information given by a fisherman. Police suspect that the sack had been filled with sand with the remains of the victim inside it and then thrown into the sea.

The police media unit added that the upper torso of the victim’s body had not surfaced. Kalpitiya Police are making further investigations in a bid to find out the person or persons responsible for the crime.
Piliyandala Police are conducting further investigations.
