Fletcher to helm Godfather-themed “Offer”
(FASTNEWS | COLOMBO) – “Rocketman” director Dexter Fletcher will helm the first block of episodes on “The Offer,” the limited series about the making of “The Godfather” at the Paramount+ service.
Michael Tolkin (“The Player,” “Escape from Dannemora”) is writing and executive producing alongside Fletcher while Paramount Television is behind the ten-episode event series.
The story follows Al Ruddy, a producer on the movie who was witness to its turbulent development and production before turning into one of the biggest box office hits of all time.
Armie Hammer was to have portrayed Ruddy but has exited the project. The role will be recast and the project is now eyeing a summer start in Los Angeles.
Fletcher will participate in the casting process and setting the show’s look. He also remains attached to “The Saint” film reboot in development at Paramount.
The project is separate from Barry Levinson’s upcoming film about the same thing, that one has Oscar Isaac as Francis Ford Coppola, Jake Gyllenhaal as Bob Evans and co-stars Elisabeth Moss.
