Arrest of Champika Karunaratne, Co-ordinating Officer to former President

Champika Karunaratne functioned as coordinating Secretary to the former president Mahinda Rajapakshe has been arrested by the FCID for receiving three salaries for holding three posts at the same time and period . He is reported to have been in possessions of two passports, one from Srilanka and the other from britain. Durning the previous regime he functioned as coordinating Secretary to the president, authorized officer of the Ministry of ports and Shipping and coordinating officer of  the National Lotteries Board and received salaries from all three organization.

In the past Media organizations referred him as Kappam Champika/Bribe Champika, FCID sources revealed. He used his official position as coordinating officer of the former president and Authorized officer of the Ports and shipping Ministry and got released large scale of heroin and ethanol in to the country without any difficulties.He made use of the former Director General of customs for all these activities.
