Police in Germany are searching for evidence after a doctor making an emergency house call found the bodies of several babies.

Officers said they were trying to determine how many dead infants were in the house in the northern Bavaria town of Wallenfels, near the Czech border.

The bodies were found on Thursday afternoon, but police said it was not clear when the babies died or who was living in the house at the time.
