According to the Police the van, belonging to the Agricultural Insurance Board was travelling from Colombo to Galle when the accident occurred.
A 28-year-old woman was killed and seven other people were injured when a van skidded off the road and crashed into a safety fence at the 73 km post on the Southern Expressway this morning, Police sources stated.
The injured were admitted to the Karapitiya Hospital.
Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
